TOTS CREATIVE MOVEMENT
Our tots program is an introduction to the wonderful world of dance. We take the basic skills of dance and gymnastics to create a fun, yet structured class. Young dancers work with rhythms, incorporate props, learn how to count music, and explore movement through creativity. We teach the Leap n’ Learn curriculum which is a comprehensive early childhood dance syllabus, designed for children aged 3-6. The program takes into consideration a young child’s growing verbal concepts, movement and gross motor skills, as well as their need for pretend play. For ages 3 & 4
JAZZ
Jazz is a fundamental dance form that complements all other dance forms. Jazz classes are comprised of a warm-up, centre work and progressions including jumps and turns. Technique and style through choreography are emphasized
TAP
Make music with your feet! This class helps dancers develop a strong sense of musicality, rhythm and timing. Class begins with a warm-up, then the rest of class is spent working on varying tap technique and exercises focusing on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, co-ordination, and speed of movement. Combinations and choreography are taught combining everything from basic beats to complex rhythms. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun
BALLET
Ballet is the foundation of all types of dance. Ballet builds strength and technique while also teaching grace, poise and proper alignment. Barre work, port de bras, adagio, allegro and combinations are taught. We follow the American Academy of Ballet Syllabus for our competitive dancers and the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus for our pre-competitive and recreational dancers
HIP-HOP
Hip-hop is a dance style that evolved from the hip-hop culture and is usually danced to hip-hop music. It is a class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking and encourages students to step out of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. This program is a high-energy, hard hitting dance experience that is fun for dancers of all ages!
ACRO JAZZ
This is a very athletic class that brings together dance and gymnastics. We incorporate cartwheels, handstands, walkovers and partner lifts and holds into our regular jazz class.
MUSICAL THEATRE/ VARIETY
Musical Theatre focuses on learning proper dance technique while exploring the various dance styles used in Broadway shows. Class curriculum is based on jazz technique layered with Broadway style movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. Emphasis will also be placed on learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and telling a story through dance and facial expressions.
STRETCH & STRENGTH
This class is designed to improve a dancer’s range of motion, enhance muscle flexibility and increase their level of core muscle strength. Through a variety of stretches and strengthening exercises, dancers will also increase their awareness of their own body’s potential as it connects to expression through movement
LYRICAL
Lyrical combines jazz and ballet technique to create a graceful, fluid dance form. Dancers express the emotion and story of the music, paying close attention to the lyrics and what the artist is trying to convey
CONTEMPORARY
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and ballet. Classes integrate various traditional disciplines with current contemporary styles and these classes are for dancers who like physical complicated floor work, patterns of movement and self-expression. Elements of improvisation are also introduced
